Linda Cardellini has officially been cast as Pamela Voorhees in Peacock’s highly anticipated „Friday the 13th“ prequel series „Crystal Lake,“ bringing the horror franchise’s origin story to streaming platforms in 2025.
The three-time Emmy nominee will portray the mother of Jason Voorhees, the iconic hockey mask-wearing killer from the film series. Fans of the original 1980 film will recall that Pamela was actually the killer in the first movie, seeking revenge against camp counselors she blamed for her son’s drowning.
Brad Caleb Kane serves as creator, writer, and showrunner of the series, taking over development in August 2024. Production studio A24 is executive producing alongside original film screenwriter Victor Miller.
The announcement comes as streaming platforms continue competing for nostalgic franchise content. While plot details remain scarce, the series explores events preceding the original film that launched eleven sequels and grossed nearly $60 million against a modest $550,000 budget.
Cardellini’s previous work includes „Dead to Me,“ „Freaks and Geeks,“ and roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She is currently filming HBO’s „DTF St. Louis“ alongside Jason Bateman and David Harbour.
